Hello Everyone,

This format of episode turned out really great and was a joy to record. Although the focus of this podcast is still going to be featured episodes with various composers and their music, with music theory being a reoccurring sticking-point, these Roundtables are just a way to break up the content and bring a more casual tone to the program. On the topic of Collaboration in Reality, I think we went a fair amount in-depth into the specifics of what collaboration tangibly means in an academic setting. Collaboration, and interaction, with what is usually complete strangers at first, can be a truly daunting task that can leave a lot of people at an inherent disadvantage. Breaking out of your social, or even professional, shell is a task and challenge that we all have to face at one point, and it certainly is not fun. Hopefully, you all can find some comfort in the experiences and hurdles that Justine and Will talked about within the most recent episode.
Thank you again to Justine de Saint Mars and Will Davenport for joining this TCC Roundtable and discussing Collaboration in Reality.
I am excited to preview the next episode of the TCC Podcast which will feature the composer Michael Dixon and their piece Albireo. This episode and piece is quite unique, as Albireo is a piece for carillon, which is the instrument found within bell towers! Certainly a unique instrument. Through my conversation with Michael, we explore the carillon itself, the community around it, composing and performing for it, and much more. It is always fascinating to discover another pocket of composition that before I had absolutely no awareness to. All of these topics are not even to mention our philosophical discussions around the current state of our respective fields! That certainly is a lot of content and there is even more than what is listed, but I can’t give everything away or that would ruin the fun! You all will have to wait for the release of the next episode this coming Monday. You certainly won’t want to miss it!
I am also excited to tease that the next guest after Michael Dixon is Professor Douglas Boyce and his piece Ars Poetica, a multi-dimensional work developed alongside the poet Marlanda Dekine. More on this in next week’s blog post!
Again, don’t forget to listen to the most previous episode if you missed it, the first TCC Roundtable on Collaboration in Reality with Justine de Saint Mars and Will Davenport. Make sure to follow our social media links below and the podcast streaming platform of your choice to keep up-to-date on new episodes and blog posts from the TCC. Additionally, set your calendar and or streaming subscriptions to this coming Monday, August 19th for Michael Dixon and their piece Albireo. You won’t want to miss it, and we’ll see you there!
