Hello Everyone,

If you have not already, I encourage you to use the following link to listen to the most recent episode of the TCC Podcast, featuring the artist Purple Kloud alongside some tracks from his album HUGO.

My conversation with Purple Kloud was a great time, and I am very happy to expand the catalogues of music featured here on the TCC. Whether in the gerne of Pyrofuzz or learning about the indie southern scene, Purple Kloud brought a dimension to the show that I hope to continue to expand on. Before posting the episode, some people asked me similar questions to “are you sure that this fits with the music of your podcast?”. I always responded with an emphatic yes. Music is music, expression is expression, artists are artists, composers are composers. To have an intellectually and stylistically diverse field in music theory, the doors should always be open to anyone who wishes to walk through them. One of the things that Purple Kloud described, that I was a big fan of, was the need to “hypnotize yourself” into becoming successful in spaces such as academia or industry, which is certainly a sentiment that I have come to find as particularly true in my case. I’m sure it is even more true for someone such as Purple Kloud, who is fighting that good fight in being an independent artist, being the composer, producer and performer all in one.

A very special thank you again to Purple Kloud for coming back onto the podcast and for sharing his album HUGO.

I am excited to preview that the next episode of the TCC Podcast is going to feature a returning guest, the composer Isabella Temperville with her album The Recusant’s Dream. Isabella’s return to the TCC has been a few months in the making. Ever since her album’s release late last year, I have wanted to continue our discussion from the previous episode. For those unaware, Isabella has been developing an original IP for (I think?) about a decade now, with expanded lore, characters, phenomenon, and a narrative centered around various protagonists. The Recusant’s Dream is the follow-up album to The Infernal Suite, the previously featured work from her on the TCC. In this upcoming episode, Isabella and I continue our conversation from that episode, catch up with her on recent professional pursuits, and go pretty well in depth to her master’s thesis The Recusant’s Dream, her affections for leitmotifs, and much more. I would love to tell everyone more about it, but that would spoil the fun. Make sure to check out the new episode this coming Monday!
