Transcript

Hello and welcome to the Theorist-Composer Collaboration, a podcast interview series, which serves to highlight modern composers and their compositions with insight and analysis from music theorists.

My name is Aaron D'Zurilla and I am a graduate music theory student at Florida State University.

This is a brief introduction to both the concept of and the plans for the TCC, and I welcome you to the program.

I've always found particular interest in the dynamics between artistic intention and the subsequent interpretations from analysts, and this podcast will shine a light on both the analytical and creative processes in both music theory and analysis.

Each podcast episode will highlight a composer discussing with them their background, a selected piece from their works, and their views on the future of composition and music theory.

Each episode will also have a music theorist who will be conducting the interview and posing questions fostering discussion about the piece in question, and in the future I hope to have a rotating cast of theorists as contributors alongside the composers as to foster different perspectives.

The music you have been hearing throughout this short episode is for marimba and fixed electronics titled Ocean's Blooming, and it will soon be the focus of the first episode of the TCC alongside the composer herself Justine de Saint-Mars.

Now, this being a new startup series, there are some processes that need to be fully explored in terms of platforms in which you can stay updated about new episodes.

Currently, we have a host website, Facebook, Instagram, with the podcast soon to be live on these platforms, as well as Spotify, Apple podcasts, with more planned for the future.

The easiest way to stay informed about the TCC is through the email subscription on our website which is tccollaboration.com, where on the homepage you can input your email for updates on new episodes.

On whichever platform you are currently hearing this there should also be corresponding links to our social media accounts.

Please feel free to reach out over email, social media, or the contact page on our website with any comments, suggestions, and inquiries.

Thank you for tuning into this introductory episode of the Theorist-Composer collaboration.

I look forward to the discussions and interviews that we will have throughout these episodes, and I hope you stick with us through all of them in the growing pains of a new venture.

My name is Aaron D'Zurilla, and welcome to the TCC.
